Founded in 1926, the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts (JFWM) strives to be the center of philanthropy and a community convener for the Jewish community in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties of Massachusetts, promoting the Jewish values of tikkun olam and tzedakah.

Rachel’s Table has been working to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste in Western Massachusetts since 1992. A team of more than 200 volunteers collect foods from local supermarkets, restaurants, caterers and bakeries and deliver it to more than 40 soup kitchens, food pantries and shelters.

Reporting to the CEO of the Federation, the Director of Rachel’s Table has primary responsibility for:
Managing Day to Day Operations:
• Donor relations
• Develop and administration of the budget in collaboration with the Associate Director
• Attend Federation staff meetings and events and Liaison to Federation Director and Rachel’s Table Advisory Committee

Fundraising and Development:
• Grant writing, working with development staff
• Solicitation of corporate donations
• Planning and executing fundraising events such as Bountiful Bowls & Outrun Hunger
• Donor solicitations and stewardship

Teen Board Oversight: 
• Oversee the planning of monthly and semi-annual events and large-scale programs including the Hunger Awareness ArtsFest and Outrun Hunger
• Oversight of Teen Board Director
• Preparing recommendations for teens

• Organizing Rachel’s Table programs such as Foodraiser, Volunteer Recognition, and other events
• Creating, developing, fundraising and execution of new programs, such as Gleaning

• Planning and execution of youth and community education programs
• Presenting at universities, synagogues, churches, and other community groups

Community Involvement:
• Represent Rachel’s Table on various hunger community boards including FoodWorks and the Emergency Food and Shelter Board of FEMA
• Serve as a resource and a connector to the hunger community
• Empower schools, community and religious organizations to educate their constituencies about hunger and how to run food drives and other programs to help the hungry
